European Voluntary Service is a part of Erasmus Plus Project. People from 18 to 30 years have the opportunity to go abroad as a volunteer. You can volunteer in the ecologic or social field, even in cultural stuff. Everyone can find something interesting.
Sure, go into the internet, search an organization and contact it.
No, I contacted just one and it worked.
It was a bit spontaneous decision, but I never regret it. It is my fourth month in Berlin and I really enjoy it. Well, it's true, the volunteer gives a lot, but you also get a lot of knowledge. I’m really benefiting of the experience in my host organization.
Exactly. But it’s not my only international experience. Two years ago, no it’s already three years ago, l was one year in Germany to study and learn the language.
The whole year was funded by Erasmus. As you see, you don’t need money. You even get money.
In Erasmus I got 500 €. In my current EVS I get 700 €, but I have to pay my flat and so one.
Don’t say incredible. The living costs are higher. By the way, may I propose that you ask me about my fears to go abroad.
Well, at the beginning I field lonely, I was also scared of having no friends and family there.
Not at all! The host organization helped me. So I felt myself worthy to be here and moreover, I got the feeling that my colleagues are my friends.
I was also a participant in a culture program in Berlin, so I met people from all over the world and found really good Friends
I would say: Just do it! It’s a new experience and it’s normal that you feel afraid. But keep positive. I have also an advice for you: Before going, make a research in the internet. There you can find many people like you and and you can chat with them. For me it’s amazing. EVS is changing my life.
I am sure that it’s an amazing experience for me. This time is giving me a lot self-confident, I became more open minded and gained a lot of new knowledge.
