Nejmet Tounes is a multipurpose center for orientation and training of rural women concerning the entrepreneurship of women. It’s financed by the italian Agency for International Cooperation
This year we managed to create jobs for 180 women. But we give them orientation as well.
The orientation can be, that a woman has a skill and she wants to make a business with her skill. Therefore she wants to take a loan, but in Tunisia you must have a certificate of professional competence for getting a loan. Nejmet Tounes qualifies women to pass the test of professional competence, so that they get loans.
Absolutely! Women from all over our region come to us. In one of our current projects we are working with women from Ajeem, from Djerba and from Madenine. These women were used to get up at five in the morning to collect mussels in the sea, to earn money for their children and for their husbands as well. Very often these women live under incredible conditions, deprived of the minimum of their rights. They are just living for taking care of their children. Sometimes we meet women who tell horrible stories. These women are violated because they want to have a better life. They say that the word "dream" doesn't exist in their dictionary.
So they place their trust in our center despite their community did not agree (crying). So I guess they trust us.
We are working well and we see good results. Moreover we cooperate with the ministry of agriculture.
This center is apolitically.
